DIVE DESTINATION GUIDE
From Alaska to Argentina, and everywhere in-between, the Americas span a massive range of scuba diving destinations, options, and every level of pretty much everything. Canada and Alaska are well known for coldwater diving, as through much of the United States. The southern parts of the US, including Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, and Florida, along with the Caribbean islands of Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands are the exception, dipping into the tropics and warm-water diving.
Mexico is the gateway to diving in Central America, with Baja Mexico and the Pacific coast to the west, then Cozumel and the Riviera Maya to the east. One could spend a lifetime diving in Mexico and hardly see any of it. Definitely a great place to check out, at least for a few years.
Central America, especially Costa Rica and Honduras, and now Panama, but really all the countries offer world-class diving, budget accommodations, decent food, with Spanish and a lesser degree English being widely spoken and understood. Even remote little islands like the Bay Islands of Honduras, or the Corn Islands of Nicaragua, have been popular scuba diving destinations for decades. But going there, you feel like you're setting foot in fin, and diving into a whole new ocean.
Crossing over from Panama into South America, you've got yourself another whole continent to dive and explore. Good luck!
The Americas have some of the world's best scuba diving destinations, incredible islands at all latitudes, and the Pacific, Atlantic, the Caribbean, and more, not to mention all the caverns and cenotes, springs, lakes, and rivers. There are surely plenty of places to blow bubbles in the Americas.
